Ethan, a 13-year-old autistic boy required to have his 4 wisdom teeth removed under IV sedation. He was very nervous and had difficulty concentrating on the task at hand until Finley, our Medical Scent Service Dog in Training came to see him. He became a different boy. Smiling, Happy and ready to have his surgery.

Dad was delighted. As he said “People are more interested in giving him medication to get him to settle down… all he needs is this… a Service Dog”

With Dad’s permission, I am posting this since this is what our health care needs. Compassion and alternative ways to take care of these patients, which in the past were directed directly to the Operating room. There is room to do things differently, and help our already overburdened Operating rooms and Hospitals, with these amazing animals.

These Medical scent Service dogs make a large difference!!!!
